The Qur’anic melodies department focuses on the phonetics of Quranic recitation and training students to recite in different styles and authentic Arabic accents. Learning to imitate the styles of famous qaris is also a part of the training.

The phonetics of Quranic recitation involves correctly pronouncing the Arabic words in a way that is pleasing to the ears. This has been passed down over generations, and each reciter has their own unique style.

“Indeed, the one who recites the Quran beautifully, smoothly, and precisely will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels…”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

There are some general rules:

  1. Firstly, it is recommended to recite with a soft and melodic voice; this helps bring out the beauty of the Quran to its fullest.
  2. Secondly, accuracy and clarity are essential; each letter should have the correct pronunciation.
  3. Thirdly, the recitation should be done at a measured and consistent pace; this helps to maintain the flow throughout the entire recitation.
  4. Finally, pauses should be taken at appropriate times so as not to interfere with the overall rhythm of the recitation.

All these rules help to ensure that the listener can appreciate and understand the content of the Quran. Furthermore, they also prevent any distortions in meaning or message that may occur due to incorrect recitation.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
